The WildFit 90 Day Challenge isn’t entirely a weight loss program, it’s a living-breathing-get healthy program. Weight loss is just a happy side effect. Wildfit is an adventure that brings us back to the state of health that our far distant ancestors enjoyed. Health that is still evident in hunter-gatherer societies that are in existence today. The creator of the Wildfit program, Eric Edmeades, has lived and learned from them and implemented them in his well-balanced program. Wildfit is the best wild food program out there. The Wildfit 90 Day Challenge is a healthy, common sense, mindful way of looking at food and how and we consume it. The Wildfit 90 Day Challenge follows a specific methodology for improving health and longevity by using human history for guidance. It’s based on the knowledge that every living thing has a “diet” that is biologically and environmentally ingrained in them. A giraffe’s primary diet is plant-based, wild cats hunt and eat live prey, dung beetles … well … yeah, you know … ew. Human beings also have a “diet” that is particular to our species. A diet that served us wonderfully up until a few short thousand years ago or so.
The Way Our Ancestors Ate
It wasn’t until we became an agrarian society that our diet radically changed. Our ancestors no longer had to forage for food and they domesticated animals instead of hunting them. They learned how to refine foods and developed a sweet tooth along the way. But our core eating habits didn’t change, and that’s where modern society started the climb to obesity, diabetes and more.
Originally we were programmed to eat our fill whenever food came our way either on the bush or on the hoof. When farming became the norm, we continued to eat our fill even though it wasn’t needed for a static existence. This lead to overweight, diabetes, and a whole host of illnesses that our ancestors weren’t subject to.
In the past, maybe I was channeling my distant relatives when asked if I ate <insert food here>, I would reply, “I pretty much eat anything that doesn’t run faster than me”.
So Wildfit isn’t a diet in the “restrict your food intake and exercise until you drop” sense. It’s a program that teaches you the evolutionary basis for the way humans should eat to maintain maximum health. The Wildfit 90 Day Challenge also teaches things that the food industry would rather we didn’t learn about the way our food is processed.
So How Did I Find the 90 Day WildFit Challenge?
It actually found me.
I received an email from Learning Strategies advertising a free webinar for the WildFit 90 Day Challenge 2017. Paul Scheele, one of the founding members of Learning Strategies, and his wife had been successful with the program and it changed their lives for the better.
At the time, how I was thinking about food was at the forefront of my mind. I was up 20 pounds over comfort level and a couple of health problems had popped up again. Someone had recommended Women, Food, and Desire: Honor Your Cravings, Embrace Your Desires, Reclaim Your Body by Alexandria Jamieson. I’d just finished it and found it to be an excellent book about food cravings and the emotions behind them. The author uses anecdotes from her clients as supporting evidence for the benefits of changing the modern diet of manufactured foods to one that is closer to what nature intended us to eat.
Based on the program information that was presented in the webinar and the information that I found on the Wildfit Website under the Wildfit 90 heading, I decided to sign up. Is it pricey? A little, but no more so than the programs that insist you buy their food and supplements. Wildfit’s value is unmatched. The level of coaching and support is stellar!!
There is a less expensive self-paced option that gives you all the great information that comes with the coached program, but you don’t get the benefit of having the ‘herd’ for security and support. The self-paced option is great for introverts and people who don’t have the time to commit to video meetings. Community interaction is key for this program for people who need a little extra motivation and encouragement. I took the fully coached option and it was key for me. I made new friends, still keep in touch with them and we’re all still encouraging and helping each other achieve our goals.
Why Did I Sign Up For The Wildfit Diet?
The biggest motivator is that I have never had what you’d call a great supply of energy. Ever. Not when I was running, not when I was a kid, not when I was at my best adult weight ever. I was slim, trim and exhausted. Nope, no energy, never, ever. I went to bed early and woke up tired.
The webinar had testimonials from people like me who had completed the program that they had more energy at the end of it. I wanted to see if a new way of fueling my body would make a difference.
I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia by a Rheumatologist in 1995. This was when it was first labeled as a syndrome and considered to be an “it’s all in your head” type of affliction. It’s the main reason I don’t have the energy that I should.
Recently studies done on Fibromyalgia patients that seem to imply there’s a link to food choices that make symptoms worse. I took drugs before I go to bed to quiet my hyperactive nerves down so I could get a good night’s sleep.
High cholesterol runs in my family. With its emphasis on lean meats and veggies, Wildfit is a natural cholesterol-lowering diet.
Weight loss did figure into the equation. About a year ago this weird, alien rubbery tire seems to have circled my waist right above my belly button. I poked at it one morning and thought “huh, that’s new”.
Don’t get me wrong, I love my body. It’s reasonably healthy and it’s served me well for 55 years. I didn’t love my new personal flotation device, but it’s gone now thanks to this new way of eating.
Food Cravings and Wildfit

Though I thought that I understood my food cravings and mostly acknowledged where they come from, I need motivation and accountability to change my habits. I found that WildFit addresses the whole package rather than just another “diet” with rules to follow. They concentrate on exploring your mindsets about food and helping you change them for the better.
They have weekly counseling sessions and there is access to a coach to help us. A Facebook group is included in the support structure. With the Facebook group, there was constant contact and encouragement from the team and that meant a lot to me.
Another plus, that I really appreciated, is that WildFit doesn’t have a line of foods and supplements that members are required to buy. In the past, I loved programs with pre-packaged food. I am a lazy cook and having meals that just needed to be popped into the microwave was like Nirvana. But then I looked at some of the pre-packaged foods that I still had left from those programs with my new WildFit eyes and the number of preservatives and unpronounceable additives shocked me. I can’t believe that I was putting all that garbage in my body in the name of weight loss.
The program features a lot of fresh vegetables, fruit, and lean meat. My grocery bills went down because I wasn’t eating prepackaged, overprocessed foods. Though they recommend organic, I chose regular produce for the most part because organic doesn’t fit into my budget very well. My husband and I have a 1,000 square foot vegetable garden, so that’s my version of organic!
Any weight loss that occurs is a secondary effect on this the Wildfit, the true focus is on health. No deprivation, no required exercise, no pressure, and NO HUNGER! Yup, no hunger. It was a happy realization that I was eating my fill, not hungry, and not bored at all.
The amazing thing to me was that there wasn’t any negative chatter about Wildfit anywhere on the internet. I found no criticisms of it….zero. The odds are astronomical that a company or product would escape trolls and critics. But no, nothing. Even to this day, I can’t find anything negative about the program.
Impressive.
Going into the 90 Day Wildfit Challenge
I purposely went in a little blind, I didn’t want to bring in any preconceived notions that might hinder my progress. The only knowledge I had of this program is what the webinar covered and what I’d read on the WildFit website itself. I also watched the 90 Day Wildfit Challenge introductory video that Eric Edmeades has on YouTube. Eric, the creator of Wildfit and an international speaker and entrepreneur, guides each challenge along with a coach dedicated to each group. He developed this program and walks the talk, he and his family adhere to eating Wildfit.
Really, going in somewhat blind is the idea. You take each week and its fun and surprises as they come. You live in the moment and concentrate only on what you’re working on that week. This ‘take it as it comes’ information is integral to how well the program works. There’s an element of mindfulness to it that’s calming and enlightening.
Wildfit is also somewhat of an elimination diet. Well actually first it’s an addition diet because your first steps are the addition of good fruits and vegetables and water. Eliminating sugar, caffeine, and potential allergens help you understand what foods that your body has an intolerance to.
For example. I have (had) IBS – Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Food goes in and comes out rapidly. Diarrhea ruled my life for years. I’ve been tested for allergies, celiac disease, and gluten intolerance. Everything came back negative. When I eliminated refined grains on the Wildfit program, the IBS cleared up and continues to stay clear, my skin is clear and glowing, I no longer have to plan my days around finding a bathroom. Anytime I eat more than a small quantity of refined grain, my body drops straight back into it’s IBS pattern; gas, bloating and diarrhea.
Coming out the Other Side

I came out 12 pounds lighter and feeling more energy than I have in years. I’m “regular” in a way that I haven’t been for most of my adult life. I know exactly what foods make me feel like crap and why; what foods I’ve been hanging onto since I was a kid and what emotions drive those food choices; and which foods are truly good for me. I’ve gained a true appreciation of foods that I NEVER thought I’d eat (Kale, Collards, Beets). I have way more energy and don’t encounter the mid-afternoon slump.
I now realize that wheat products are my true enemy. Not just gluten … wheat. Any products with wheat in them make me feel bloated and sick, they make my joints hurt, they rob me of my energy. I’m off the Fibromyalgia drugs. Do I miss bread? Yeah, I do, so I’m exploring alternatives to wheat products. Almond flour is a Godsend.
I can think with more clarity. This was an eye-opener. I didn’t really realize how fuzzy my head was most of the time until one day … it wasn’t! Life seems clearer and sharper. Interestingly enough, my vision also changed for the better. I still use readers occasionally, but when I’m totally living Wildfit, I don’t need them at all (I only have mild short arm disease though, so results may vary).
My primary care doctor is off my back because my cholesterol levels are back to a more normal range.
Is Wildfit Worth It?
A resounding yes. As I mentioned the coached program is a little pricey, but the self-paced is a bargain. Wildfit runs specials with partners once in a while. They have a reasonable payment plan. Once you’ve been through the plan, you still have access to all the tools and recipes and the Facebook groups so you can repeat the program on your own. It’s such a plus getting advice from coaches who have been through the program themselves and support from others going through the journey as well.
Other participants in my group have reported having more energy; significant weight loss, and better-looking skin, hair, and nails. There were several people in the group who were dealing with chronic illnesses that said they showed significant improvement.

Thanks for the review of Wildfit. I’m considering starting in a weeks time. Aside from the price, which even with the 60% discount, is scarily high for me, I have 3 main hesitations: 1 is that I won’t be able to find the foods he suggests – e.g., I looked at your greens shopping list and figured I’d have to drive to the city 5 hours away to get most of those things. I grow lettuce and can get a few other leaves around here, but not a great variety …. will I still be able to do it if I don’t have access to the likes of kale, kombucha and goji berries? 2. I’m worried I won’t be able to do the “obstacles” or put the time in to watch all the videos and do the course work. How much time is required to watch and read? And what kind of obstacles?……. and 3. If I already eat pretty much only whole foods (plants, eggs, meat and honey) and only when I’m actually nutritionly hungry, is it still for me? I’m thinking it is because despite my clean diet I do feel foggy and lethargic and pudgy.
Hi Nikki! First, thank you for checking out my review. My biggest concern when I started the program was the lack of information online. That’s the main reason I wrote it, to give others an idea of what the program entailed without giving away too many of the details. I totally understand the hesitation, the expense was almost the main reason I didn’t do it. I chose the three payment option which made it a little more palatable. The program with Mindvalley is less expensive than the program was when it was partnered with Learning Strategies (it was around $1200). The exam and certification is a new feature since I went through the course so I’m not sure what that all entails (truthfully it looks like an unnecessary expense to me, but then I don’t know the background behind the certification option). So, for concern 1, they don’t have a set requirement for exact foods, just for food groups at any given time. The one exception is the green smoothie that’s part of the core of the second month (and it takes very common fruits and vegetables and they go over substitutions if you can’t find an ingredient). The program encourages you to try different greens, but you don’t have to go out of your way to find a source, the program also emphasizes buying local. I’m a gardener too, kale is crazy easy to grow and I added beet greens because we had a ton of beets when I did the program. Kale grown great indoor too. My green shopping list is more of a suggestion list if you want to branch out and try some of the more exotic things and understand the nutrients they bring. The Wildfit core program is more about eating what is available to you (like our ancestors did). So, concern 2, time. The course is fairly self-paced and the only solid time commitment is the coaching calls, but even they’re not mandatory (in fact, if memory serves me, they’re recorded so you can listen later). They’re beneficial live because you get to hear how the rest of your group is doing and how they’re getting around some of their challenges. Also, the calls are a good place to pick up tips and tricks because the coaches have been through the program. The obstacles are more mental than anything else, they are our self created obstacles to why our eating patterns emerged and are ingrained habits. The program explores why we eat what we eat and examines what our food triggers are. Since you’re already eating clean, you’ve doubtless found some of your triggers already. The videos aren’t long and once a week’s videos unlock, they stay unlocked and are yours forever. I still go back and look at my Wildfit materials from time to time when I need a refresher. As for #3, the answer is totally up to you, but I can give you some parting thoughts to help you make up your mind. You already eat clean, but still have some concerns. The way Wildfit is structured will allow you to suss out what’s causing the concerns. It functions much like an elimination diet but gives you added resources and information to give you a good understanding of what’s causing your concerns. In my case, I discovered that I’m extremely sensitive to refined wheat products even though tests for gluten sensitivity and celiac disease came back negative. That alone made the program worth it for me. I’m still seeing the benefits and am about the same weight I was after the 90 days were over (but yeah, I’ve yoyo’d some because at the end of the day … I still really like to eat).
